Emblem of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent                 Emblem of the Red Crystal

                                              

Since creation of the International Movement the image of the red cross against a white background is used until now as a symbol of protection during armed conflicts and distinctive sign of belonging to the Movement in peacetime.

Emblem is designed to remind that the work of the organization is based on the Fundamental Principles of the International Movement of Red Cross and therefore it is a token of the Movement.

It is a key point in the carrying out of humanitarian activities consisting in protection of both victims and those, who came to rescue them.

‘…The Society has a unique right to use the emblem, flag, distinctive marks and the denomination of the Red Cross, according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine “On the Ukrainian Red Cross Society” of October 28, 1992, the Law of Ukraine “About the symbolic of Red Cross and Red Crescent in Ukraine” from July 8, 1999, Rules for using of the Emblem of Red Cross/Red Crescent by the National Societies (1991), adopted at XX International Conference (Vienna, 1965) and reconsidered by the Council of Delegates (Budapest,1991), Protocol additional III of December 8, 2005 (Geneva, 2005), paragraph 2 of the Resolution 1 of XXIX International Conference of Red Cross/Red Crescent of June 22, 2006, and this Statute, for the aims, determined by the International Conferences of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and Geneva Conventions of 1949…’ (extract from the Statutes of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society).

Ukrainian Red Cross Society is watching thoroughly after the compliance with the Law of Ukraine “About the symbolic of Red Cross and Red Crescent in Ukraine”.

By preventing the emblem’s imitation and illegal exploitation in peacetime we will provide conditions for victims not to be abandoned and those, who come to rescue them, be guaranteed safety necessary for their work performance.
